If you are new to astronomy, perhaps own a telescope and would like some help in setting it up and using it, would like to learn how to navigate the night sky and find galaxies and star clusters, or see the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter, then I urge you to attend an upcoming meeting of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society and participate in activities geared toward the beginner astronomer.

At each regular monthly meeting we take a quick tour of the current night sky and explore various topics of interest to astronomers of all interest levels through a featured presentation.  At previous meetings we have covered topics such as how the stars are named, becoming familiar with the constellations, and getting oriented and navigating the night sky; and we will be presenting similar topics at upcoming meetings.

Also, CSASTRO sponsors and hosts a number of night-time star parties throughout the year, presenting an excellent opportunity for you to gain familiarity with the night sky and to learn about telescopes and related equipment in the presence of experienced (and friendly) fellow astronomers.

So, if you have an interest in astronomy and would like to learn more, then please join us at our next meeting and check us out. I think you will be glad you did.
